Darkmoon Faire

There are 2 epic rewards for turning in 1200 tickets in the darkmoon faire. Hopefully this will give an idea on the economics and amount of time required to receive these rewards. If anything changes over time, please update it since blizzard and the wow economy is always changing.

The first rule is to plan and start early. As time gets closer to the arrival of the Darkmoon Faire, more and more people will begin farming. Prices on the auction house will increase to. As a side note, when the faire is in town the Auction House price for these items drops because more of demand, supply, and competition. To save inventory space, mail the materials to an alt until your ready to sell. The goal is to get enough materials for 1200 tickets.

Farming

For now this will only have the items redeemable for 20 tickets. An epic mount is helpful to increase the speed between nodes or mobs. Stealth is also helpful to prevent gank downtime.

  • Killing Stonelash scorpions in silithus is one way to farm. If you have the skinning profession, you can get rugged leather. I perfer the Stonelash Pincer (level 56 only) since it spawns closer to the graveyard. Always watch your surroundings because mobs wander everywhere. I believe the horde numbers here is less than eastern plaguelands since there is no instance nearby. Prince Skaldrenox is a special summonable mob in silithus which I have seen the horde kill. By the time I got 5 stacks of scorpid blood, I also had 5 stacks of rugged leather. A combined worth of 5g was found in white/green trash items. Some thick leather, 3 stacks of scorpid scales and various other items was found. Roughly 12 days of farming, 5 hours a day should be enough for 1200 tickets.

  • Killing bats in eastern plaguelands is another way to farm materials. Again skinning can also get rugged leather. The drop rates are approximately similar to the scorpions in silithus. Find a small space away from the instance, possibly near the graveyard. I haven't done this so maybe someone can write up how good this is.

  • Mining thorium is another way to farm. In addition to getting thorium ore, dense stones is also farmed. As a bonus, gems also may be found. If thorium widgits is the goal, then runecloth must also be farmed. I have tried doing this but time ride time between nodes is pretty far plus there are truesilver, mithril, dark iron, gold, and other unwanted mining nodes which eats into farming time. It took 2+ hours of farming to get enough thorium for 1 stack of thorium widgits.

  • Farming money is the last way. At the time of this writing, I have been able to buy a stack of dense stone for 1g 25s to 1g 50s. 2 stacks of dense stone will roughly make 1 turn in of dense grinding stones. 60 turn-ins ends up to about 180g.
