Guild History

Gin no Mikazuki (GnM) was founded on February 16, 2005 by a Honolulu native, Trynne, shortly after the release of World of Warcraft. The guild name (銀の三日月) means "Silver Crescent" in Japanese. GnM initially started out as a casual-social guild whose intent was to provide a gathering place for friends (mostly from Hawaii). After GnM's inception, a few members joined a guild alliance to raid the original WoW endgame content. While successful, the original guild alliance didn't have the room to accommodate all the people from the guild who wanted to raid. They were also scheduling raids according to Pacific Standard Time; the middle of the day for most of GnM's Hawaii players. Eventually, GnM's membership grew large enough that we were able to transform ourselves into a casual-raiding guild, forming our own raid alliance with two other Hawaii-based guilds and scheduling our raids around Hawaiian Standard Time.

Objectives

GnM's current "guild classification" is casual-raiding/social. This means that there is no requirement for members to participate in end-game raiding, though doing so is encouraged. We're still predominantly a social guild, and we welcome other Warcraft players who want to hang with others living on Hawaiian time.

Our current objectives are:

  • To progress through endgame content at a steady pace while maintaining a fun atmosphere for our members.
  • To develop friendships with each member because behind every character there's a real person.
  • To maintain an atmosphere of respect, friendliness, and understanding in the guild (GnM's "Hawaii atmosphere").
  • Not rest until half the server role-plays with a pidgin accent. Fo' real, cuz.

Guild Etiquette (All Members)

  • All members are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration.
  • When speaking in the /guild, /party or /raid chat channels, be mindful of others. If you are going to participate in a conversation that other guild members may find offensive, please either use /tells or create a private chat channel.
  • When speaking to officers about a problem, please use /tells. Privacy is a must. It is not fair for any member to be subjected to a public discussion regarding a private matter or conflict. Likewise, when there is a problem between members, be considerate of others and do not argue in public or public-guild channels. Use a private method of communication such as a private channel (in game or in Ventrilo) or /tell.
  • Members are expected to keep guild matters in guild. This means (but is not limited to) not posting about or responding to internal guild issues on public forums or in public channels.
  • Please use the officers! The officers are here to assist you and help make your membership enjoyable. If you have any questions or concerns, please bring this up with an officer immediately so that it can be addressed in a timely fashion.

Guild Etiquette (Officers and Adepts)

  • Officers and Adepts are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with each other and with the guild membership.
  • Officer discussions should be held in private via /officer, /tell, or private Ventrilo channels. Discussions held in this manner are considered confidential, and under no circumstances should the contents of the discussion be shared outside the officer core.
  • Officers are expected to be considerate and tactful, especially in delicate situations where members may be upset or angry at each other.
  • Any action that has permanent or semi-permanent impact (/gkick, /gdemote, etc) should never be done when an officer is angry or frustrated. Either have another officer who agrees perform the action, or wait until later when you're calm. This means you, Tef. Do not give in to the Dark Side.

Guild Etiquette (Raid leader during a raid)

  • A raid leader is performing a duty as if he were an officer for the raid. As such, the raid leader should receive the same respect and hold him/herself to the same standards as an officer.
