Current Loot Rules

Gin no Mikazuki uses a Prioritized Loot Council based system. (This section to be expanded in the future).

Old Loot Rules

Loot that drops in 10-player instances and in Wintergrasp (Vault of Archavon) is normally decided by random 1000 rolls. Loot that drops in 25-player instances is decided by DKP. DKP (Dragon Kill Points) is a loot system where players accumulate points for attendance and participation, and are later able to spend them by bidding on loot they want. DKP is primarily earned by attending our raids, with a small amount of bonus DKP available in exchange for raid contributions. There are a few restrictions to who can bid on what, but for the most part the highest bid wins.

Bidding Procedures

  • Loot will be bid on, with the highest bidder winning the item.
  • The “currency” used when bidding will be your accumulated DKP.
  • The bidding system is silent. This means a bid-master will be announced when bidding starts and all bids are sent as /whispers or /tells to the bid-master. The bid-master will be chosen to avoid conflicts-of-interest.
  • Points collusion is banned. Raiders may not discuss what they are going to bid before making their bids on an item.
  • If you do not have any DKP, you are allowed to bid 1 (and go negative) on gear upgrades for your main-spec.
  • If 2 or more bids match exactly, then a roll between the tied bidders will determine the winner.
  • Raiders are not allowed to retract their DKP bids once the winner is determined or it is found that a roll-off is needed. Raiders are also not allowed to sell/trade an item they win to other characters.
  • Loot priority will also take into consideration your build. For instance, resto druids will have loot priority over feral druids for leather healing gear.
  • Certain items have specific advantages to specific classes. On a case by case basis, Raid Leaders reserve the right to place additional limits on loot. (In Vanilla WoW terms, this means hunters aren't going to win Thunderfury over a tank so keep dreaming!)
  • BoE recipes must be learned on the spot unless everyone in the raid already has it; BOE gear must be equipped on the spot unless it is being stored in the guild vault.

Minimum Bids

  • The minimum bid for any piece of gear in WotLK:Heroic raids is 1. You may go negative with a bid of 1 and with 0 DKP available if the item is a main-spec upgrade.
  • Wintergrasp:Heroic (Vault of Archavon) is not subject DKP rules, generally loot will be distributed in this instance via /random 1000.

Off-spec/non-Preferred Bids

  • Off-spec or non-preferred bids are limited to 10 DKP maximum.
  • Loot from the WotLK:Heroic "Tier 8+" instances is subject to maximum off-spec/non-preferred bids.

Lockout Bids

  • Preferred classes may bid 11 DKP or more to "Lockout" non-preferred classes from a piece of loot (because non-preferred classes can only bid a maximum of 10 DKP).
  • Loot from the WotLK:Heroic "Tier 8+" instances is subject to lockout bids.
  • If no one from the preferred classes bids 11 or higher on loot that has a lockout bid, the highest bid wins (regardless of class preference).

Try-out/Substitute/Filler Players

Try-outs, substitutes, and filler players who are invited to raid earn DKP at the same rate as Raid Mains. But due to their possibly temporary status in the raid, try-outs, substitutes, and fillers' bids will be beaten by a Raid Main's "Lockout" bid of 11 DKP or more (provided the item being bid on matches the Raid Main's function in the raid). On the flip side, if a Raid Main is bidding for off-spec gear, their bid will have no special priority over bids made by a try-out, substitute, or filler.

What is DKP?

DKP (Dragon Kill Points) is a loot distribution system based on player effort. With the DKP system, the people who put in the most effort will receive the loot of their choice first. However, DKP also ensures that even casual players will ultimately get the loot they want if they are patient. Over time, the earning, saving and spending of DKP can become somewhat of a mini game in itself.

Earning DKP in a raid

  • 5 DKP is awarded for being in the raid on time.
  • 2 DKP per hour is awarded for being in the raid as we progress through an instance.
  • 5 DKP is awarded for staying in the raid until the end.
  • Currently, only 25-man raids earn DKP.

Earning DKP by farming

  • There are currently no plans to award DKP for raid materials.

Additional Notes about DKP

  • DKP is earned by the player, not the character. However, each player must designate which character is their raid main, and all DKP earned by that player is applied to that character. DKP you earn is given to and is only usable by your declared raid main.
  • If players are asked to play another character for the raid (usually because of class makeup), they will earn DKP but it will be applied to their main. Alts cannot win loot unless it is going to be disenchanted or left on the body to rot.
  • DKP can only be earned and spent by the person who owns the character. Say someone goes on a trip. That person cannot have another player play their character for them to earn DKP while they are gone. Furthermore, that player cannot bid on loot using the other player's DKP. Raiders must be present and in control of their characters in order to bid and win loot.
  • The Raid Leaders will also occasionally award the raid bonus DKP for a "first kill" if the boss was particularly hard and we've been working on it for awhile so hang in there!

Alts & Mains

  • Raiders are asked to choose a raid main when they begin raiding. Your choice of raid main is considered permanent throughout the duration of an expansion and should be chosen carefully. In extraordinary circumstances, Raiders might be allowed to change their raid mains with the consent of the raid leaders, however such an action is considered only when need warrants it and on a case-by-case basis. When the next expansion ships, raiders will have the opportunity to declare a new raid main upon hitting the new level cap.
  • Only mains can earn and spend DKP. By raiding only on our mains, we will progress faster and looting will be more fair to people who only play on their mains. The sole exception to this rule is if the raid is short on certain classes and we need to fill those spots in order to continue. If this occurs, the raid leaders may ask player alts to join the raid for full DKP applied to their mains. Alts still cannot bid on any loot unless all of the mains pass.
